How to Window Treatment Guide
Tips
Hang curtains at least 1/2 the distance between the window and the ceiling, higher if possible.
The bottom of the curtain should "kiss" the floor for a clean look. (I like a 1/4") I reserve the puddling effect for bedrooms only.
Do not use too narrow of a rod so that the curtains stack in front of the window.
Curtain panels should go all the way to the floor. Do not hang curtains where they stop at the sill.
Use a curtain rod that is wide enough so that when the curtains are open, they are not in the way of the glass.
Do not hang curtains inside or on the window frame. If there isn't room above the frame to hang a curtain rod, it's better to use blinds/shades.
Curtains should still have fullness to them when fully closed. As a rule of thumb, the total width of the curtains should be 2-2.5 times the window width.
Do not use curtain panels that lay flat when fully closed, curtains should have "ripples" when closed.
